A girl’s nails are not only similar to a mood ring, but also a huge part of her identity.
Black, French tips, light blue with sparkles, dark blue with sparkles, royal blue with no sparkles, red, pink- the list of possible looks and manicures to try out is endless, and so much fun!
In the past year I have seen so many different types of designs and styles. My personal favorites, however, are printed nails. Not only are they impossibly original, but they stand out and speak for themselves (and match with everything).
There are two different types of prints that work best: newspaper and maps. Grab your favorite article from the morning paper, or a map of your favorite city or state, some clear nail polish and vodka [the vodka really is for the nails!]
Step 1: Get a drink and your best girlfriend and make it a cocktail (may I suggest sparkling grapefruit juice and a lime for a refreshing treat, with or without the vodka).
Step 2: Paint your nails. If you’re using a map, use a cream or white hue so the color of the map pops. If you’re using a newspaper article, any light cream or even a pretty pale pastel color will work.
Step 3: Pour the vodka into a bowl. This bowl of alcohol is actually used to soak your nails for no longer than 5 minutes before you press the printed maps or newspaper on them.
Step 4: Immediately press desired print onto the nail and hold steady, hard and still for just a few seconds. Then, slowly peel paper off the nail.
Step 5: Be really impressed with yourself.
Step 6: Paint a clear coat on top of the design to seal the deal.
Step 7: Go out and get another cocktail with your best friend and best new accessory- these new nails can also work as a conversation starter.
